Seeing is believing - exciting new mobile developments from
Information Systems available now as demonstrations
Information Systems is now demonstrating its exciting range of new
line of business applications that link hand held computers -
PDA's to central business systems. The applications have been
built using the Compact Framework for
Microsoft's .NET (.NET CF) environment. Information Systems is one
of a handful of UK developer companies who belong to the Early
Adopters Group for MS.NET CF.
"These applications demonstrate the reality of the new mobile
business, that has been so much talked about"
said Thomas Payne, Information System's Managing Director.
Mobile solutions such as COMPASS-IP, the construction site work
efficiency assessment tool, and Mobile Stock Minder will deliver
crucial information from the field to HQ managers who can then
allocate resources to maximise efficiency, reduce waste and
improve productivity. The ROI case for these solutions is
absolutely clear. And that is why they have found willing buyers
in the guise of MACE for their BAA Heathrow Terminal One
refurbishment project and Benjys for their retail outlet stock
replenishment programme.
M
Stats, the third mobile solution now being demonstrated by
Information Systems, reverses the flow of critical information,
this time sending centrally held legacy information out to field
managers. This solution is designed to extend the reach of legacy
systems and deliver extended ROI by allowing businesses to
redesign processes for greater efficiency while retaining the use
of legacy information. M Stats has been built for a national
retailer to allow regional mangers to programme their store visits
based on relative store performance data sent daily to their PDAs.
The
fourth solution, Q Engine uses a dynamic questionnaire based
application to allow the PDA to be used to gather complex
information from the field. By utilising a very simple to use
questionnaire based interface and hiding the system complexity
from the user, Information Systems have cleverly adapted the PDA
to enable it to gather extensive and complicated field
information. Again the ROI case is clear. Hitherto, mobile systems
that have addressed complex data gathering tasks have relied on
lap top computers with their relatively large display screens to
handle the data collection side. This solution has often proved
physically clumsy, difficult to use, intrusive, or prohibitively
expensive for many field data gathering exercises. Information
Systems PDA solution running Q Engine will enable local
Authorities, Market Research organisations and businesses to
deploy a low cost alternative to lap top data gathering for CAPI
(Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) type projects and other
complex field data gathering activities.
