Dr Michael Hickey

Dr Hickey joined Information Systems early in 2002. He has been working in professional computing since 1982. He is an experienced systems analyst and database designer, developing a wide variety of  systems for corporate environments, including large-scale real-time transaction processing, and BACS projects. In most of these projects, integration with core business legacy systems was a major component. Management of his own project teams, or those supplied by other organisations, and sometimes joint teams, has been a common theme.

Prior to joining Information Systems, Dr Hickey spent many years as an independent consultant and was Projects Director of the software house, Evolutionary Technology Limited (ETL) for 6 years. In these earlier years, clients included ICL, Nationwide, NatWest, Harrods and Hewlett Packard in the UK, and in Australia, ICL, and various local governments in all the eastern states. In this capacity, he became very familiar with the financial and management aspects of software development, as well as the technical dimensions of architectural design. He has also taken on the role of business process analysis in order to identify for clients their business needs and to present the solutions available, often at very high level meetings.

At Information Systems, Dr Hickey is the Operations Director. Apart from running larger development projects, this role entails ensuring that Projects can be resourced, and that infrastructure is suitable for purpose.
